Ch Magnum de la Clairière aux Louves

2005 was indeed a sad year as I not only lost Deal an Ace but also my beloved Magnum. A born showman with amazing attitude, he was imported from the internationally acclaimed Clairière aux Louves Kennel in France, and was from the fourth repeat mating of the legendry Femto du Bois du Tôt x Eden de la Clairière aux Louves combination.

We had been over to choose him at 8 weeks and I picked him up at the French National Specialty when he 18 weeks. Everyone was admiring him and I felt so proud when Dr Surget commented on his beauty and asked me to take him into Femto's Progeny Group at the show. Then there was the sickening feeling on the ferry when I had to hand him over to the quarantine people and listen to his cries from their van as they drove off the boat with him. We visited him regularly in quarantine and he came home after the dreaded six months none the worse for his ordeal. He decided though that he wasn't going to miss out on his puppyhood and he retained his playful, extrovert character throughout his life until he was taken from us so soon at nine years of age.

Magnum was a spectacular show dog, gaining his title at Bath 2001. In 2004 he won the supreme award of Best in Show at the most prestigious show in the Belgian Shepherd world: the French National Specialty. He also won the CAC-CACIB at the French Regional Specialty of Douai.

He proved to be a prepotent stud dog transmitting to his offspring his beautiful breed type and his very special 'touch of class". In 2000 and 2001 he was the Top Tervueren Stud Dog in the UK. He has produced 11 champions, various CC winners and was also used by a number of breeders abroad who took the necessary steps to bring their bitches over the UK to be mated.

Magnum was everyone's friend, especially mine. He will be missed and never forgotten
